You have some problems with SAP Logon (saplogon.exe) or SAP Logon Pad (saplgpad.exe)

Unknown version information or trace files should be supplied

Please supply the following information to help us to analyse the problems:

    1. 720 GUI:

        a) File version of SAP Logon:
Click the icon left to the title "SAP Logon 720" on SAP Logon window, choose the menu "About SAP Logon". You'll see the file version in the popup "SAP Version Information".

        b) File version of Saplgdll or other loaded dlls:
Call the menu "About SAP Logon", click the button "Loaded Dlls", search for the dll like saplgdll.dll under "module name" in the list and you'll find its file version under the column "file version".

        c) Client Environment:
Call the menu "About SAP Logon", click the button "Client Environment" to get the information about operating system and so on.

        d) Switch on trace for SAP Logon (Pad) and Sapgui

On SAP Logon Window, call the system menu "Options..." by pressing keys "CTRL+SPACE", open the tree node Traces, choose "SAP Logon Traces" in the node and choose the corresponding radio button for trace level on the right side of the dialog and then press OK button.

Or in a way as in the former SAP GUI Realeases:
See below "620 and 710 GUI releases:"

        e) Create the trace files

Close all sapgui windows and the saplogon window opened before. Make sure by calling the Windows task manager that there is no process like saplogon.exe or saplgpad.exe or sapgui.exe running. If yes, terminate it.

Restart SAP Logon with trace level 3 or 5 (for trace with time stamps as of patch 19) using the following command line like:
        saplogon.exe /TRACE=3
        or
        saplgpad.exe /TRACE=3

Or double click the icon TraceSAPlogon or TraceSAPlogon-pad to start SAP Logon (Pad).

        Reproduce the problem.

If you have problem after you logon to a SAP system, then you can now start logon to that system by double clciking the system entry in Saplogon, If you get an error message asking you:
"Do you want to see detailed error information?"
Please choose the button "Yes" and then "OK" in the next popup so that the trace file can contain the error message.

Close sapgui after the error occurs.

        f) Search the trace files:
The trace files *.trc, *.log, which have been just created, should be under the trace directory (see also note 1442303) like:

        For Windows XP:
        C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\SAP\SAP GUI\Traces

        For Windows Vista/7:
        C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\SAP\SAP GUI\Traces

You can also find the trace files easily by opening the "SAP GUI Options..." dialog, choose the tree node Traces->SAP Logon Traces and then clicking the button "Open Trace Folder".

        g) Upload the trace files to the SAP Support ticket or transfer the trace files to sapservX according to note 40024.

        h) Switch off the trace
        Close Saplogon or Saplogon Pad.
Start Saplogon or Saplogon Pad by clicking its icon without trace setting on the desktop, e.g. the icon SAPlogon.
Delete the icon TraceSAPlogon or TraceSAPlogon-pad if you do not use it anymore.

    2. 620 and 710 GUI releases:
If you are asked to create trace files, please jump to point c) directly:

        a) File version of Saplogon:
Click the icon left to the title "SAP Logon 620" (for SAP GUI 620) or "SAP Logon 640" (for SAP GUI 640) in Saplogon window, choose the menu "About SAP Logon". You'll see the file version in the popup "SAP Version Information".

        b) File version of Saplgdll or other loaded dlls:
Call the menu "About SAP Logon", click the button "Loaded Dlls", search for the dll like saplgdll.dll under "module name" in the list and you'll find its file version under the column "file version".

        c) Switch on trace for SAP Logon (Pad) and Sapgui in a new SAP Logon Icon on desktop

Create a new Icon on the desktop:

For 640 GUI please see note 840143 to create a new icon of TraceSAPlogon or TraceSAPlogon-Pad and then go to step d).
For 620 GUI:
Find the icon SAPlogon or SAPlogon-pad on the desktop and copy it to a new icon with a name like TraceSAPlogon or TraceSAPlogon-pad.

Click the icon of TraceSAPlogon or TraceSAPlogon-pad with the right mouse button and call the context menu 'Properties'.

Choose the tab 'Shortcut' on the popup of properties.

In the field 'Target', add a space and then -TRACE=3 at the end of the old text(not before but after the character ") like:
"C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\saplogon.exe" -TRACE=3
or
"C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\saplgpad.exe" -TRACE=3

If you are asked to make saplogon trace files with time stamps, please use -TRACE=5 instead of -TRACE=3. This is only possible after you install the 620 GUI + patch >= 19 (see note 96885 about Downloading a frontend patch).

        Change trace directory if necessary
The trace directory is the directory, under which the trace files will be stored.
        a) For SAP GUI 620 patch < 56 and 640 patch < 12:
The trace directory is SAPWorkdir (see note 519852) as default.
If you make modification in the field 'Start in:' on the tab 'Shortcut', the trace directory will be the same with this setting.
        b) For SAP GUI 620 patch >= 56 and 640 patch >= 12:
The trace directory is always SAPWorkdir and you can         change it only by changing SAPWorkdir's value (see note       519852).
It would be easier for you to recognize the current trace files if there are no files under the trace directory.

        Press OK button.

        d) Create the trace files

Close sapgui after the error occurs.

        e) Search the trace files:
The trace files *.trc, *.log, which have been just created, should be under the trace directory, e.g. SAPWorkdir(see note 519852).

        f) Copy the trace files to sapservX:
please refer to note 40024 to transfer the trace files to sapservX.

        g) Switch off the trace
        Close Saplogon or Saplogon Pad.
Start Saplogon or Saplogon Pad by clicking its icon without trace setting on the desktop, e.g. the icon SAPlogon.
Delete the icon TraceSAPlogon or TraceSAPlogon-pad if you do not use it anymore.

    3. 46D GUI:
If you are asked to create trace files, please jump to point c) directly:

        a) File version of Saplogon and Sapgui:
Click the icon left to the title "SAP Logon 46D" in Saplogon window, choose the menu "About Saplogon" or "About Sapgui". You'll see the file version in the popup "SAP Version Information".

        b) File version of saplgdll:
Call the menu "About Saplogon", click the button "Loaded Dlls", search for saplgdll.dll under "module name" in the list and you'll find its file version under the column "file version".

        c) Switch on trace for Saplogon or Saplogon pad

Find the icon SAPlogon or SAPlogon-pad on the desktop and copy it to a new icon with a name like TraceSAPlogon or TraceSAPlogon-pad.

Click the icon of TraceSAPlogon or TraceSAPlogon-pad with the right mouse button and call the context menu 'Properties'.

Choose the tab 'Shortcut' on the popup of properties.

In the field 'Target', add a space and then -TRACE=4 at the end of the old text(not before but after the character ") like:
        "C:\Program Files\SAPpc\SAPGUI\saplogon.exe" -TRACE=4
        or
        "C:\Program Files\SAPpc\SAPGUI\saplgpad.exe" -TRACE=4

If you are asked to make saplogon trace files with time stamps, please use -TRACE=5 instead of -TRACE=4. This is only possible after you install the 46D GUI patch >= 566 (see note 96885 about Downloading a frontend patch).

The directory given in the field 'Start in:' is the current directory for the trace files. It would be easier for you to recognize the current trace files if there are no files under this directory.

        Press OK button.

        d) Create the trace files for Saplogon or Saplogon pad

Double click the icon TraceSAPlogon or TraceSAPlogon-pad to start saplogon or saplogon pad and reproduce the problem.

        e) Create the trace files for Sapgui
If you have problem after you logon to a SAP system, then you have to do the following additional steps:

        Switch on trace for Sapgui.exe:
Click the icon left to the title "SAP Logon 46D" in Saplogon window, Choose the menu "Options" and check the button "Active sapgui trace level" - Level 2 or 3 under "Sapgui Start Options" in the popup "SAP Logon configuration".
